Overview: What is an ISPP?

Students who graduate from an accredited DPD (Didactic Program in Dietetics) and would like to earn their Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification must complete a supervised practice program in order to be eligible to sit for the national board exam.

One of the programs is the Individualized Supervised Practice Pathway or ISPP. This is an alternative supervised practice pathway which, upon completion, qualifies students to sit for the national board Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) exam.

I completed the program through California State University, San Bernardino which offers an ISPP track to both local-based and distance interns. As a distance intern, I coordinated and arranged my own rotations near my hometown in the SF bay area. Upon completion of the program, I passed the board exam to earn my RDN credential.
