I spent four weeks at Kaiser Permanente Fremont for my hospital food service rotation with the nutrition services manager RD. During my rotation I:

Conducted rounds to assess patient satisfaction with meals

Created new procedure for Comfort Carts - carts that are brought to families of dying patients

created a process chart and fax form to instruct staff how to request a comfort cart ​

detailed instructions for Nutritional Services department on how to assemble comfort cart

sourced US Foods catalog for food items and equipment, and analyzed cost breakdown of each

Sourced plant-based diet recipes to submit to NCAL Patient Meal Enhancement Task Force

Participated in six interviews with applicant with open positions

Led an in-service about top allergens for food service staff and provided a handout

Conducted cafeteria quality audit and inspection

Revised Greater Southern Alameda Area enteral nutrition and supplement formulary sheet

Participated in team meetings that included representatives from patient care and/or other support service departments

Attended the Northern California Patient Meal Enhancement Task Force which discussed patient menu improvements that would adhere to Kaiser's "Healthy Picks" plant-based menu initiative
